Datrona is headquartered in Buffalo Minnesota. We have customers throughout the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area, and support our customer’s branch offices all over the state of Minnesota. We specialize in technical problem solving and solutions for business.

Our goal: build long term business relationships on trust and superior technical support.

My name is John Seemann. I started Datrona in 2001. My passion is helping people by solving technical problems, and I love saving people money!

I received my training in Electronics Technology from St. Paul Area Vocational Technical Institute and in 1983 went to work for Midwest Communications – owner of WCCO Radio, WCCO Television and several other properties.

At Midwest I helped to build a satellite earth station facility called Teleport Minnesota and create Midwest Sports Channel where I helped design and build technical facilities. Over a period of 11 years I was promoted to supervisor and eventually took a position as Acting Chief Engineer while CBS Television Stations Division negotiated the purchase of the Midwest Communication’s properties.

That is me standing next to a large satellite uplink antenna on the left. It is the one closest to the front left in the photo on the right. This is the earth station facility that my crew and I built in Lino Lakes Minnesota. There were several 24 hour channels being broadcast via satellite from this facility, including Midwest Sports Channel, Cable Value Network, and several radio stations. We were the primary satellite video feed for most major sporting events in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area including the Super Bowl XXVI and both the 1987 and 1991 World Series.

After leaving Midwest Communications, I started my first company – Computer Soup, Inc. with a partner. The year was 1994 – shortly before Al Gore invented the Internet! I’ve learned a lot of lessons about business and success since then. Datrona is now a success, and is now providing several employees with their livelihood and a place to grow professionally. Meanwhile I’ve been learning important lessons along the way and applying that hard earned knowledge running my company.

My philosophy is simple – provide great services, be flexible, and always be fair to customers and employees. Datrona employs people who are truthful, hard working and passionate about achieving their goals.
